Informative Program

Our program this past wednesday went really well. We served healthy, earth consciencious and organic foods which everyone enjoyed. The program followed as planned, the trivia was both fun and informative. The information part of the program seemed to interest most people also. Everyone was delighted to receive the energy saving light-bulbs, and was interested in what more they can do to help the environment. We had a great turn-out and everyone gave a really great feed-back. Also, the surveys were collected and the data is being extracted for gauging the opinions of the residents.

A New Year!

Welcome back everyone!
This semester is a new start with new plans. We are having a "kick-off" event for our Madison International Program for learning to save energy on Wednesday January 31st. There will be games, prizes, and information for the residents about the upcoming project involving energy use in the hall. We are also planning a community event with CSL for later this semester, where the residents will most likely be doing health and ecology realted activities around the Harrisonburg area (such as cleaning-up black swan, picking up garbage from the streets, etc.). Stop by later to find out more about Madison International's Health and Ecology Committee.

Last post for the semester

Hey Everyone!
Thanks for stopping by to check out the Madison Internaitonal Helath and Ecology Club. I realized today that our previous post from Dec. 3 2006 was not "published", instead it was in "draft" mode and thats why the public was unable to view it.
All our programs for Fall '07 have been sucessfully completed, including the survey for Ashby students, which will be distributed once we return from Winter break.
The Health and Ecology Committee will reconvene once we return from Winter break in Spring '07

End of Fall '06 Semester Update

Hey Everyone!
We have had a productive semster this Fall '06 in the Health and Ecology community. Our programs, Recycle Runway was a success (thanks mainly to Katrina). Everyone brought in two recyclable items in order to receive a recycling bin, followed by a game of recyclable bowling, then a fashion ontest where the competing groups created outfits for men and women made from paper plastic and any other items available that were recyclable! Now we are working to develop a survey for our fellow Madison Interantional students so that we can get a better understanding as to how energy efficient the students are. This survey will be distributed in Spring 2007 when a new program to save energy will be implemented in the Madison International. During the program, a few more surveys will be done in order to determine how effective the program is on the student's behavior. Hopefully this will be a success!
Until next semester,
Madison International Health and Ecology

Health and Ecology News

Hey Everyone!
We apologize for the delay in updating our blog, but we'll be posting our news our committee affairs from now on so that you can join in.
Our informative movie night for Tuesday October 24, 2006 had a slight change of plans, instead of "Inconvenint Truth" (which has yet to be released in video and dvd) we watched "Supersize me", which didn't effect our audience turn out. We had great feedback afterwards and we believe that next time we'll probably think twice about supersizing our meals.
Our next event is planned for November 7th 2006, where we'll be handing out Pizza with a "special gift" that is bound to help out our ecology, as well as discussing how you can use this "special gift". So come join us in the Ashby TV lounge.
For our future plans regarding Health and Ecology, Dr.Miles is helping us pioneer a way to improve the energy efficiency of Ashby. We'll keep you posted about any programs regarding any new developments regarding this project.
Thanks For stopping by.
